Potter Homes Mission Trip to Zambia: Building a School with Lifesong for Orphans
A few weeks ago, part of the Potter Homes team traveled to Zambia, Africa on a mission trip centered on service, faith, and long-term impact. Partnering with Lifesong for Orphans, our team helped support the construction of a new on-campus school that will serve 1,200 children from kindergarten through 12th grade.
For some team members, this was their first time traveling to Africa. For all of us, it was an opportunity to step beyond our everyday work in residential construction and take part in a project focused on education, community, and purpose.
Building a School in Zambia
The school under construction will provide access to education, structure, and opportunity for hundreds of children for generations to come. Working alongside Lifesong staff and the local Zambian community, our team spent time on site contributing wherever needed—supporting the build, learning from local leaders, and gaining perspective on what thoughtful construction can mean in a global context.
While the work itself was hands-on, the experience went beyond the physical build. It was about presence, service, and partnering with a mission already deeply rooted in the community.
Why Service Matters to Potter Homes
At Potter Homes, we believe building is ultimately about people. Whether we’re constructing custom homes in Southwest Florida or supporting a school project abroad, the goal remains the same: to build with purpose and intention.
This mission trip reinforced the idea that construction can be a tool for lasting impact. Being part of a project that centers on education and long-term opportunity aligned closely with our company values and our commitment to giving back.
Lasting Impact Beyond the Build
The video highlight reel from this Zambia mission trip captures moments from the construction site, the people we worked alongside, and the shared experience of serving together. But the true impact will be seen over time—through the students who will learn, grow, and build their futures within the walls of this school.
We’re grateful to Lifesong for Orphans for welcoming us into their work and proud of our team for approaching this experience with humility and care.
